Nicholas Kirkham


Nick graduated with an Honours degree in Chemistry from the University of Durham in 1989. He then started his professional career with a London firm of patent and trade mark attorneys. He joined Graham Watt & Co LLP in 1994 becoming a partner in 1997.

He has a keen interest in professional matters. Whilst training, he was a member of the Informals Committee (for students training in the profession) and was Honorary Secretary of the Committee 1993/94. Nick continues his involvement in student education as a member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents (CIPA) Education Committee and by giving lectures. He is also a member of the Press and PR Committee of CIPA which promotes public awareness of the profession.

Nick is a member of FICPI, ECTA and INTA.

Alison Cole


As part of her degree in European Law with French and German, Alison began her career in the legal department of a large multi-national conglomerate in Paris. She was previously a partner at a large London firm.

Alison's areas of experience include cosmetics, publishing, motor vehicles and pharmaceuticals. Alison handles all areas of UK, CTM and Madrid Protocol trade mark work, from searching and availability advice to infringement opinions and settlement agreements. In addition, she regularly advises clients regarding the protection of their domain names and domain name disputes and resolutions.

Steven Suèr


Steven joined the team at Graham Watt & Co. LLP in November 2012, having previously been an equity partner in a London firm.

In the patents arena, due to his engineering background Steven has specialized in the field of mechanical type inventions. This encompasses a wide variety of subject matter, for example automotive and oil drilling technologies, medical devices, child seats, fuel cells, product packaging, and advanced breathable building panels. Steven does though also have considerable experience with Internet and telecom related subject matter.
He is also a qualified trade mark attorney and has prosecuted trade marks and designs around the world.
Steven participates with the INTA, Marques and IPBC conferences and is a member of INTIPSA, the International Intellectual Property Strategists Association, Intellectual Property strategy being something he is very keen to develop with each of his clients in order for them to fulfil their potential.
Specialties: Mechanical patent drafting, entitlement disputes, trademark conflict resolution, Intellectual Property strategy.

David Bailey


David joined us in 2013 from a long-established firm having London and provincial offices, where he had been managing partner. David joined the patent profession in 1991 after a period in industrial research. He has a wealth of experience across technical disciplines in both contentious and non-contentious issues, with a particular emphasis on chemistry and the life sciences. David has worked with a wide range of research companies, covering areas such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, dental apparatus, polymer chemistry, pigments and imaging chemistry, alloys and catalysts, and toxicology.

David is a member of CIPA, ITMA, AIPPI, FICPI, the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
